The Vicksburg Art Association host its annual spring show at the end of April. Members of the association will have the chance to show off and sell their work to the general public during the event.
Ashley Schutt is the president of the association.
“We’re very excited,” she said. “This is one of two shows we have during the year, and this one, I think, is more fun because we have a special category and we also have People’s Choice Awards in the spring show.”
The categories of media will include oil, watercolor, acrylic, photography, drawing, fiber, mixed media, graphic design/digital imagery, printmaking, and fine craft.
Separate from those categories will be the special category, for which the theme is the bicentennial of Vicksburg.
Awards for the People’s Choice category will be chosen by those in attendance at the opening on April 26.
The rest of the work will be judged by Dr. Randy Miley of Mississippi College.
“The fall and the spring show are the two big opportunities to show off the work that members do and that artists in Vicksburg and Mississippi do,” Schutt said. “It’s an opportunity for them to sell their work and have it judged. So it’s a great opportunity to have a professional art experience.”
Work will be accepted for entry on April 19 from 2 until 4 p.m. and April 21 from 4 until 6 p.m. After the opening on April 26, the show will continue to be open to the public through April 30.
Entry fees for current members will be $15 and $40 for new members. The show will take place at the Constitution Fire House Gallery located at 1204 Main St. For more information, email firehousegalleryvaa@gmail.com.
