100 YEARS AGO: 1925 

J.L. Thibodaux’s car skidded and turned over twice. • Lester Cuneo was seen in “A Western Promise” at the Alamo Theater.

90 YEARS AGO: 1935

Robert L. Dent died. • A marriage license was issued to Rudolph Graham and Louise Wescott. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Fischel and children left for a visit to Montgomery, Alabama.

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Several hundred pupils in local schools received their first injection of the new Salk polio vaccine.

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Zales Jewelers and Thom McAn Shoe Store were announced as tenants in the Battlefield Village Shopping Center.

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Malcolm M. Hubbard died after a lengthy illness. • Air Force Capt. Lawrence T. Wade III, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Wade Jr. of Rolling Fork, was awarded the U.S. Air Force Commendation Medal. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Gene Houston discussed his work as an amateur apiarist. • Marcy C. Foster of Utica died.

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Norm Baker received his Eagle Scout badge from Troop 76 Scoutmaster Steve Wilhelms.

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Dancers Taylor Thomas, Molleigh Wallance and Lyndsey Freeny won the RiverFest Idol competition.

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Bread of Life Church of the Nazarene in Vicksburg dedicated its new chapel to Martha Cooper (Twick) Morrison after the Morrison Company, LLC donated its former headquarters to the church.
