One, two, three, four, Kylie Goss is gonna cheer some more!
Goss, a senior at Porter’s Chapel Academy, will get to continue following her cheerleading passion after signing to become part of Hinds Community College’s squad next season.
She’s been part of various cheer programs since seventh grade, which she said helped her to get to the next level. Attending Hinds’ cheer clinics over the past couple of years put her on Hinds’ radar as a top talent.
Before coming to Porter’s Chapel she was part of Warren Central’s cheer team that finished in the top 10 at a national competition.
She plans to major in radiology at Hinds.
“I was steadily going to their clinics and seeing if that’s what I wanted, and I found that I did,” Goss said. “All the girls on the team are super nice and I didn’t want to stop after high school. I wanted to keep pursuing cheer.”
Goss is a base, which is the position in the squad that supports and lifts the flyers — those who jump and are thrown into the air during different stunts.
She said she enjoys the teamwork and camaraderie in cheerleading.
“I love the excitement and bonding with the team. But overall I just love cheering and everything about it,” Goss said. “I’m glad I got this opportunity and I can’t wait to see what happens.”
