The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) will be hosting its annual Drug Take Back Day Saturday, April 26, at its location at 820 Veto St.
VPD officials said the event will take place in the parking lot from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and allows for anyone with unused or expired medications to drop them off to be disposed of by VPD personnel.
“Bring your expired or unused medications to our convenient location,” VPD officials said. “Join our community and safely dispose, in an environmentally friendly way, of medications that are commonly abused.”
VPD said the collection site will accept a number of items, including: narcotics; over-the-counter medications; prescription medications; and vitamins.
The collection site will not accept syringes, inhalers, liquid medications or ointments and lotions.
Additionally, for anyone unable to visit VPD on the designated date, VPD said they may drop off medications at the permanent drop box located inside the police station throughout the year. VPD said the box is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
All drop-offs are anonymous, VPD said.
