A fire in an apartment complex Thursday afternoon caused no structural damage and resulted in no injuries, Vicksburg Fire Chief Derek Stamps said.

“At approximately 1:04 p.m., the Vicksburg Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 402 Locust St.,” he explained. “Upon arrival, crews discovered a pot on the stove that had overflowed with grease, which was creating flames and smoke throughout the apartment. The fire crew quickly initiated an interior attack, successfully containing the fire to the stove. There was no damage to the structure, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was determined to be unattended cooking.”
