By the Numbers: VPD crime stats show first murder charge of 2025

The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) submitted crime statistics for March during the Monday meeting of the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) with the numbers showing a slight uptick in major crimes, including the year’s first murder.
Categories of rape and robbery also saw a lone report each in March, a rise of one from February in both categories. Other March numbers included:
- 3,798 logged calls;
- 1,055 reports;
- 284 arrests, up from 194 in February;
- 224 warrants issued;
- 319 citations issued;
- 61 warnings issued;
- 19 DUIs;
- Two auto thefts; up from one in February;
- Three aggravated assaults, down from four in February;
- Two residential burglaries, down from four in February;
- Eight auto burglaries, up from five in February and including two from secured vehicles (up one from the prior month) and six from unsecured vehicles (up from four in February);
- 13 domestic violence reports, down 41% from 22 in February.
For the second consecutive month, there were no reports of manslaughter, business burglary, carjackings or kidnappings.
