Lamar Christian sweeps PCA out of MAIS Class 3A playoffs

Blade Davenport went 2-for-3 with a home run, triple, and three RBIs, and also pitched three hitless innings as Lamar Christian beat Porter’s Chapel 10-0 on Friday to complete a two-game sweep of their first-round series.
Lamar Christian (21-7) won Game 1 earlier in the week, 20-2. It advanced to face Newton Academy in the second round next week. Porter’s Chapel finished its season with a 3-23 record.
McCoy Ladner hit a two-run single in the first inning to help the Lions jump out to a 5-0 lead and they eased on to the victory from there. Davenport hit a two-run home run in the second inning, and he tripled and scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth.
Davenport also had seven strikeouts in his three innings on the mound. He walked two batters and did not allow a hit or a run.
DJ Parhm was also 2-for-3 with three runs scored for Lamar Christian, and Maddox Rimes had two hits and two RBIs.
Senior Conley Johnston singled leading off the fifth inning for PCA’s only hit.
