Dave Beer was in Warren County from Natchez. • Richard L. Carroone  joined Allen and Son.

A mock wedding, “The Gay Nineties,” was put on at the National Park Golf Club. • The home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Farrior burned. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Mrs. Ralph Jacobs left for Galveston to visit her brother. • Ensign Ben Colmery Jr. finished basic training in Iowa. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Dr. W.K. Purks was elected president of the city school board. • Mrs. Martha Ann Kelly of Port Gibson died. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Guion Jr. announced the birth of a daughter, Lisa. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

W.P. “Pete” Ke of Lake Providence, Louisiana died in a tractor accident. • Retired Army Maj. Gen. Thomas A. Lane died. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Letitia Key received the Governor’s Award for her volunteer work in serving meals to the elderly.  

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Laura Teaford received the President’s Academic Award at Auburn University. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Willie Benard used a mule to plow the field of Pearson Gay on Porters Chapel Road.  

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

A yearlong investigation by the Vicksburg Police Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics ended with the arrests of 18 people.
