The Vicksburg Warren School District (VWSD) Board of Trustees recognized two standout powerlifting students at its regular meeting Thursday. Each student was also included in Ward 1 Alderman TJ Mayfield’s April AMAZE Awards during Friday’s regular meeting of the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA).
Vicksburg High School student Cedrionna Blackmore received a certificate of recognition at both meetings for being named the 2025 Mississippi High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Class 6A girls individual powerlifting state champion in the 220-pound weight class. She lifted a total of 810 pounds.
River City Early College student Samuel Ross, competing in the Warren Central High School zone, received a certificate of recognition at both meetings for being named the 2025 MSHAA Class 6A boys individual powerlifting state champion in the 220-Pound Weight Class. He lifted a total of 1,430 pounds.
Also included in April’s AMAZE Awards was Warren Central High School softball player Madison Pant, in recognition of pitching a perfect game — including 14 strikeouts, March 25 versus Ridgeland High School.
