With floodwaters reaching the area and the Mississippi River cresting at just above 49 feet Monday, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) was out patrolling areas where high waters were inevitable.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said no injuries or emergency situations were reported as a result of the high water.

“People in this area are resilient and they’ve been through this before,” Pace said. “We had some people asking us to patrol their property, but everyone knows what to do.”

Warren County Emergency Management Agency Director John Elfer said conditions were as expected for Monday’s crest and high waters.

Elfer said he is continuing to ask that motorists not drive through barricades on closed roadways and that residents stay out of floodwaters, which are expected to recede in early May.
