Voting is under way for The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.
This week’s nominees are Maddox Lynch (Warren Central baseball); track athletes Marley Bufkin (Porter’s Chapel) and Jayden Woods (Vicksburg); and the tennis doubles team of Carrie Wood and Walker Moore (St. Aloysius).
Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Maddox Lynch, a senior infielder and pitcher with Warren Central’s baseball team, went 5-for-6 with three RBIs and three runs scored in a playoff series sweep of Center Hill. He also earned the pitching win in Game 2 by allowing one run in six innings.
Marley Bufkin, a senior with Porter’s Chapel Academy’s girls’ track and field team, won the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 6.25 inches, and finished second in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 at the MAIS Class 3A South State meet. She qualified for the Class 3A state meet in all three events.
Jayden Woods, a junior with Vicksburg High’s boys’ track and field team, won the discus with a throw of 127 feet, 11 inches at the MHSAA Class 6A North State meet on April 26. He also finished fourth in the shot put to qualify for the Class 6A state meet in both events.
Carrie Wood and Walker Moore, members of St. Aloysius’ tennis team, won the MAIS Class 5A mixed doubles championship on April 24. The duo won their two matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 to win the title.
