Mayfield announces summer program

Vicksburg’s Ward 1 Alderman TJ Mayfield has announced the Dream Community Champions Summer Program, a partnership with Vicksburg Police Department and Vicksburg Fire Department aimed at providing meals and other essentials to community members over the summer months.
Mayfield said the program will take place July 11 through Aug. 1 and donations are currently being accepted.
Needed items include chips, water, packaged fruit, granola bars, sack lunch items and toiletries such as soap, lotion, toothpaste, hair brushes, combs, underwear, socks and deodorant.
Mayfield said drop-off locations include his office, located in Vicksburg City Hall, 1401 Walnut St., Suite 308; Vicksburg Police Department, located at 820 Veto St.; and the Vicksburg Warren Youth Development Center, located at 2020 Mission 66.
Financial donations may be made to the United Way of West Central Mississippi, Mayfield said.
