A report of a structure fire Friday morning at a residence turned out to be the product of an empty pot on a stovetop, Vicksburg Fire chief Derrick Stamps said following the call.

“At approximately 11:06 a.m., the Vicksburg Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 257 Valley View Lane,” Stamps explained. “Upon arrival, crews found a pot on the stove that had burned because the liquid had dried out, which created smoke throughout the structure. The homeowner had removed the pot before the fire crew entered the home. Fortunately, there was no damage to the structure, and no injuries were reported.”
