Tech. Sgt. William Keys, son of Reola Harrison of Tallulah is assigned to England. • Thomas Foster Sr. died.

Ernest Glen Pace and Keith B. Megehee received National Merit Scholarships.

Mike Shingler opened a club catering to teens in Bovina. • Becky Tustain retired  from the associate degree nursing program at Hinds Community College.

Kindergarten students Beth Fortner, Cade Walters and McKenzie Miles participated in a schoolwide circus at First Presbyterian Church Kindergarten and Daycare.

Tyla Vega, 18, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for killing her mother with a hunting rifle in 2011.
