100 YEARS AGO: 1925 

Pete Morrison was seen in “The Ghost Rider” at the Alamo Theater. • Miss Juliette Hatchett, attending the Memphis Conservatory of Music, spent the weekend in Warren County.

90 YEARS AGO: 1935

Services were held for Gustavus Monroe. • Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Feibelman left for Memphis. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Brig. Leon Pay, a missionary from India, spoke at the Salvation Army. • Alice Bertha Herzog left for a visit out west.

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Mrs. Allie Ross died. • Services were held for Hugh Avery. • Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Haues of Baton Rouge were in Warren County visiting relatives. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Newellton, Louisiana resident Odell Kifer died. • Mr. and Mrs. Danny Mize of Tallulah announced the birth of a son, Jeffrey Thomas, on April 29.

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Odell Jones was destroyed by fire. • Vicksburg Police Department Sgt. James Abney, who was wounded in a shooting, was reported to be in satisfactory condition.

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Jonnita Brewer was chosen as Vicksburg’s Miss Hospitality. • Angela Redditt was chosen as a state semifinalist as McRae’s entrant to compete in the Seventeen Cover Model Contest.

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Parents gathered to urge authorities to stop the criminal activity going on in neighborhoods surrounding Grove Street Elementary. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

City officials blamed rain for low voter turnout in the municipal election. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

The Southern Cruisers Riding Club donated a first aid kit to the county welcome center.
