100 YEARS AGO: 1925 

Mr. and Mrs. S.J. McCauley left for Cleveland. • Baumgartner, pitcher for Jackson, won his own game against Vicksburg with a hit in the tenth inning.

90 YEARS AGO: 1935

The Rev. E.P. Cullon of McComb, a reserve Army chaplain, was assigned to Warren County for duty with the local CCC camps. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Mrs. Charles Crosby was a patient at Mercy Hospital. • Mrs. Francis Leyens returned from visiting her husband in Louisville, Kentucky. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Patricia Kelly was named Vicksburg Miss Hospitality of 1955. • Services were held for Mrs. Mary Cook. •  Frank Williams Sr. died. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

George T. Smies was visiting Cleveland. • Annabelle Furr returned from a visit with relatives in Kansas City. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Mr. and Mrs. H. Pat Southerland of Vicksburg announced the birth of a son, Douglas Matthew, on April 30. • Mrs. Alice Lee Crayton died. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Hamp Cosey died at the age of 70. • Vicksburg High School’s Reggie Harris was named winner of the Billy Ray Memorial Award and Gator Coach Jim Sizemore was named Coach of the Year.

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Functricity, a 10-acre entertainment complex, opened on Warrenton Road. • Damon Williams represented St. Aloysius High School at the Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation Leadership Seminar.  

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

City officials announced they would not appeal the Civil Service Commission decision to reduce disciplinary action against a Vicksburg police officer fired earlier in the year. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

A test to determine the cause and extent of a landslide on the bluff at Riverfront Park was expected to cost the city and county more than $50,000.
