The Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) has made an arrest in connection with the April 27 aggravated assault involving a firearm that occurred on Arcadia Street.
Decorian Williams, 23, of Vicksburg, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon. The incident took place during the early morning hours on Arcadia Street, where officers responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they discovered evidence of gunfire and later learned that two individuals, one male and one female, had been injured. The male victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and the female was grazed by a bullet.
The investigation, led by the VPD Criminal Investigations Division, determined that Williams was a primary suspect in the shooting. He was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at Warren County Jail. His bond is $35,000.
“This type of violence has no place in our community,” Chief of Police Penny Jones said. “We are committed to ensuring that those who choose to resolve conflict with weapons are held fully accountable. I want to thank our officers and investigators for their swift and thorough work in bringing this case to a turning point.”
Jones said VPD encourages anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward.
“Community cooperation remains vital in helping us keep our neighborhoods safe,” Jones said.
