Vicksburg High track and field athlete Zion Knox won the state championship in the girls long jump, and finished second in the triple jump, sixth in the 400 meters, and second in the 4×200 meter relay at the MHSAA Class 6A state meet on May 3.

Knox had a leap of 17 feet, 7 inches to win the long jump. She jumped 38 feet, 1/2 inch in the triple jump; ran the 400 meters in 1:03.88; and teamed with Amiyah Hall, Raylyn Parson and Nakia Jeffers for a time of 1:44.89 in the 4×200 relay.

The Missy Gators scored 70 points — Knox accounted for 29 of them — to finish third in the team standings.
