Two women have been formally charged and arraigned following a shooting at Superior Crab restaurant Monday night.

The shooting took place after an altercation between two women in the establishment’s bathroom escalated, Chief of Police Penny Jones said. Jones was off-duty and eating in the restaurant at the time of the shooting.

Lakeisha Henderson and Tiaira Moore were each charged with felony aggravated assault in connection with the shooting that also injured a third woman who was struck in the “lower part of the body,” Jones said. Both suspects appeared before Vicksburg Municipal Court Judge Angela Carpenter Wednesday. Carpenter set bail for each suspect at $100,000.

In addition to the felony charges, both Henderson and Moore will face misdemeanor charges for disturbance of a business and disorderly conduct by fighting.

Jones said the still-unnamed third woman who was injured is also expected to face similar misdemeanor charges related to her involvement in the disturbance.

“The altercation caused panic throughout the restaurant, forcing patrons to flee and disrupting business operations on one of the busiest nights of the year,” Jones said in reference to the crowd celebrating Cinco de Mayo. “In addition to criminal charges, all three individuals involved will be held accountable for restitution to Superior Crab for the loss of income and property disruption caused by their actions. Superior Crab was forced to shut down operations as law enforcement and first responders secured the scene and treated the victim. Many customers were unable to pay their bills due to the evacuation.”

Jones said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and VPD continues to work closely with the Warren County District Attorney’s Office in order to bring the case to a resolution.
