100 YEARS AGO: 1925 

The Vicksburg Evening Post issued a special edition of 100 pages for the Vicksburg Centennial celebration. • Vicksburg High School lost two games to Meadville, 3-1 and 6-2.

90 YEARS AGO: 1935

Word was received that Capt. and Mrs. George Couper were injured in an automobile accident in Alabama. • Andrew Bucci was the speaker at the Rotary Club luncheon. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Mrs. T. Silver of Chicago was in Warren County visiting relatives. • Mrs. Maimo Minter left to visit her mother in Oklahoma City.

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

James Byrd was elected commander of American Legion District Six. • Harry F. Hammett announced his candidacy for District 3 supervisor. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Services were held for Mrs. Carrie Carroll. • Mr. Frank Starr Williams was visiting New Orleans.  

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Mr. and Mrs. John Norris Nimon announced the birth of a daughter, April Noreen, on April 29. • Frank G. Vollor, son of Mrs. W.J. Vollor and the late Mr. Vollor, was finishing law school at the University of Mississippi. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Mrs. Fannie Louise Hall died. • Donald Leggett was injured in a motorcycle wreck. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Sister Mary Pierre Harington, RSM, died. • The Neil Building, adjacent to Vicksburg City Hall, was purchased by the city to use for offices and parking.

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

John and Denise Hluska won a $5,000 home makeover by Downtown Designs and the Vicksburg Home Depot at the same time they were rebuilding their home, which had been destroyed by fire three years earlier. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Two brothers were killed and another man was injured in a head-on collision on Oak Ridge Road.
