Parker Brown, of Vicksburg, MS, majoring in Law, was among the more than 150 University of Mississippi students who were welcomed into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor societies for all academic disciplines. The university held an induction ceremony on April 3 at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts on campus.

“Phi Kappa Phi, the all-discipline honor society, recognizes students who are the best of the best in their fields,” said Annette S. Kluck, Phi Kappa Phi chapter president and dean of the Graduate School. “In fact, it is one of the most selective honor societies.

“Members are not only individuals who excel academically, but the society values service and a lifelong love of learning,” Kluck continued. “Each year, we recognize several top students who meet these exceptional standards for membership at our induction ceremony.

“At the ceremony, our members receive a set of cords that they will wear at graduation to signify their membership and commitment to the values of Phi Kappa Phi.”

Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is based on a student’s character and academic standing. Juniors must have completed 72 credit hours and rank in the top 7.5% of their class, while seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10% of their class.
