Alice J. Jones

Alice J. Jones passed away Wednesday, April 30, at Merit Health River Region. She was 98. A funeral service celebrating her life was held Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. at New Mt. Elem M.B. Church with Dr. Leonard Walker officiating. Interment followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.

Alice Jake Jones was born May 2, 1926, to Adam and Maud Howard Jones, of Warren County (Vicksburg, Mississippi). She was educated in Warren County Schools, graduating from Bowman High School. She worked for Dr. and Mrs. Barbara Martin for 40 years.

She loved working with her flowers, collecting angels, doing needlework, embroidering, and she loved to go shopping. She was a kind and loving person. She was loved by all of her nieces and nephews. She was baptized at an early age at Mount Elem M.B. Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Wilson and Lucy January Howard; paternal grandparents, Mark and Rose Smith Jones; three brothers, Thomas, Elbert and Norman Jones; and one sister, Mary J. Ward.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories two daughters, Isabell Jones, of Rochester, New York, and Barbara Jones, of Vicksburg; a loving niece, Maud H. Jones, of Ridgeland, Mississippi; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends.
