A man who was reportedly struck by a vehicle Wednesday in Vicksburg has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said the call came in mid-morning.

“At approximately 10:36 a.m., the Vicksburg Fire Department rushed to the intersection of Clay Street and Locust Street in response to an urgent report of a male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle,” Stamps said. “Upon their arrival, the ambulance crew discovered a 40-year-old man lying on the ground, visibly distressed, and in need of immediate medical attention. The team carefully assessed his injuries thoroughly, ensuring his safety and stability, before gently securing him onto a spine board. After stabilization, the man was swiftly transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.”
