Who’s Hot: J.T. McDaniel

Tallulah Academy baseball player J.T. McDaniel was selected to play in the MAIS Class 2A/3A/4A Futures all-star game for rising sophomores and juniors. The game will be played Monday, May 19, at 1 p.m. at Mississippi College.

McDaniel, a sophomore shortstop and pitcher, led Tallulah Academy with a .553 batting average this season. He had nine doubles, seven triples, seven home runs, 39 RBIs and scored 52 runs in 33 games. He also had 43 stolen bases.

On the mound, McDaniel started 10 games and had an 8-4 record, with a 2.73 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 69 innings. The Trojans finished with a 20-13 record and reached the MAIS Class 2A semifinals.

In addition to McDaniel, Porter’s Chapel Academy’s Evan Gordon was selected to play in the MAIS Class 2A/3 baseball all-star game at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Briarfield Academy’s Brock Johnson and Ryder Jones will play in the Class 2A/3A All-Star Game, and Davis Holt will play in the Futures Game.

The Class 2A/3A All-Star Game will begin at 10 a.m. and the 2A/3A/4A Futures Game at 1 p.m. The Class 4A/5A/6A All-Star Game follows at 4 p.m., and the 5A/6A Futures Game at 7.
