100 YEARS AGO: 1925 

Mayor J.L. Hayes received a letter of  congratulations from the Edwards Board of Trade about Vicksburg’s bicentennial celebration.

90 YEARS AGO: 1935

Mrs. Kate Everard was in Russelville, Kentucky visiting relatives.

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Hugh McKenne a of the U.S. Navy is in Vicksburg  after being released from a Japanese POW camp in the Philippines.

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Dr. and Mrs. Edley Jones returned from a medical meeting on the Gulf Coast.

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Jerry Lewis stars in “The Delicate Delinquent” at the Rivoli Drive-In Theater.  

50 YEARS AGO: 1975. 

Mr. and Mrs. John Dickson announced the birth of a daughter, Stephanie.

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

The old Nicola home at 1612 Cherry St. was destroyed by fire. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

A tornado struck near Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Claiborne County. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Julia Juanita Ervin died Monday, May 16. She was 71.

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

A strong storm overturned a boat on Eagle Lake but resulted in no injuries.
