Lorann Archer, First Lady at Trinity Temple and wife of pastor Archer, said “Vicksburg is a small city, so some of our residents don’t get an opportunity actually hear live performances for gospel recording artists. It’s a different experience (to hear the music live) and we wanted to create a worship experience outside of the walls of the church for the city of Vicksburg.”

Archer said Trinity Temple Mass Choir, Hampton and Price will open the evening with their music. Hampton is a rising gospel singer and member of the Mississippi Mass Choir where he sings as a lead tenor. Price serves as Minister of Music at New Come and See Church in Port Gibson. She has released an album, “With All of My Heart,” that she solely composed, arranged, played music and sang.

“Reverend Barnes is well-known in the gospel community,” Archer said. “We thought his inspiration and encouragement in his ministry would be very encouraging and enlightening to the city of Vicksburg and to the community.”

Barnes is a record producer, director, songwriter and composer known for the song, “God’s Grace,” Archer said. He and The Jubilaires have received numerous awards and nominations for their music, including a Grammy Award nomination in 2004, the Mississippi Gospel Award in 2007 and a GMA Dove Award nomination. He was inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Detroit, Mich. in 2006. Other performers who have been inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame include Aretha Franklin, CeCe Winans, Della Reese and the Mississippi Mass Choir.

Archer recommends tickets be purchased ahead of time for $30, but they may also be purchased at the door for $35. Tickets may be purchased from church members, through Event Brite at https://www.eventbrite.com/d/ms–vicksburg/gospel-explosion/, at Michel’s Music and Hair It Iz. A table for parties of 8 may be reserved at the discounted price of 7 tickets.  Please call Trinity Temple Church for additional information at (601)415-5184. The event is a fund-raiser for Trinity Temple.

“We want people to come out and worship and fellowship in a spirit-filled, family-fun setting where you can feel comfortable to sing worship songs and praise,” Archer said.

“Attire is ‘come as you are,'” Archer said. “Sunday outfit, or t-shirt and jeans, we want people to be comfortable to worship however they feel comfortable.”

“We want residents of Vicksburg and surrounding communities to come out and have a wonderful fellowship in the City Auditorium,” Archer said.
