An early morning fire destroyed a home on Halls Ferry Road Wednesday, Vicksburg Fire Chief Derrick Stamps said.

“At approximately 3:10 a.m., the Vicksburg Fire Department swiftly responded to a structure fire at 3101 Halls Ferry Road,” Stamps said. “Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a residential home fully engulfed in flames, illuminating the night sky. Demonstrating their expertise, the crews executed a defensive attack strategy to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures.”

Stamps said the cause of the fire is under investigation; however, the home was connected to an unauthorized source of electricity, indicating significant safety and compliance issues.
