College players Morgan, Embry to coach at St. Al softball camp

The youth softball camp happening next week at Halls Ferry Park will have St. Aloysius’ name on it, but will have something to appeal to almost everyone.

College pitchers Abby Morgan of Southern Miss and Hannah Embry of North Alabama, both Vicksburg natives, will be guest intructors at the camp that runs from June 9-11. Morgan is a Warren Central graduate and Embry a Porter’s Chapel Academy graduate. Morgan was The Vicksburg Post’s softball Player of the Year for Warren County in 2021 and 2023, and Embry won the award in 2017 and 2020.

Besides giving players some excellent pointers, St. Aloysius coach Mike Foley said bringing in two players like Morgan and Embry should broaden the appeal of the team’s annual camp beyond his own school.

“It’s for the entire Warren County and Tallulah population,” Foley said.

The camp is for players entering grades 1-6 in the fall. It will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. Players can be dropped off from 8 to 9 a.m. on Monday, and from 8:30 to 9 Tuesday and Wednesday.

In addition to Morgan and Embry, St. Al’s players and coaches will serve as instructors.

The cost of the camp is $100 and includes a daily snack. Walk-up registration is welcome, or you can register through GoFan.co.
