A Warren County man is facing charges of statutory rape this week after being taken into custody over the weekend.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said 25-year-old Shane Standish was arrested Saturday morning by Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies Mitt Goza and Andrew Clemts after a traffic stop on Highway 61 North, just south of the Issaquena County line.

Pace said Standish was wanted after reports of sexual contact with a minor.

Standish was taken into custody without incident and charged with statutory rape of a child under the age of 16. He appeared this week in court in front of Warren County Justice Court Judge Randy Lewis, who set bail at $100,000 with the provision that, should bail be made, Standish would have to wear an ankle monitor until his next court appearance.

Pace said the alleged victim was known to Standish; however, further information could not be released due to the involvement of a minor.
