The 15-year-old suspect wanted for a shooting Thursday morning on Heartwood Drive turned himself in to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) Friday afternoon.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said Juepharion T. Wesley surrendered to authorities after he was identified by witnesses on the scene as the shooter in Thursday’s incident.

“Thursday, May 29, just after 9:30 a.m., deputies responded to the scene on Heartwood Drive and discovered a 33-year-old male with what appeared to be gunshot wounds – one in each leg,” Pace said. “He was transported immediately to UMMC (University of Mississippi Medical Center) by Vicksburg Fire Department ambulance.”

Pace said WCSO was actively searching for Wesley, who was already out on bond and awaiting trial as an adult for allegedly shooting into an occupied dwelling in November of 2024. He now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, also as an adult. Wesley is being held without bond in the Warren County Jail.

Pace said he was charged as an adult in both cases per state law.

Under state statue, it’s mandatory that anyone 13 years of age or older and charged with a violent offense involving a firearm is under the jurisdiction of adult court,” Pace said. “It’s state law.”

Pace said Wesley will likely make an initial court appearance Monday.
