At the end of each high school sports season, The Vicksburg Post honors Warren County’s best athletes in a number of sports with its All-County teams.
The 2025 All-County track and field team features 33 of the area’s top athletes from Warren Central, Vicksburg High, St. Aloysius and Porter’s Chapel Academy. All of them reached the state meet in their respective classifications in the MHSAA and MAIS, and six combined to win state championships.
The All-County boys’ team is led by Warren Central sprinter Dwight Palmer as the Athlete of the Year. The junior swept the MHSAA Class 6A championships in the 100, 200 and 400 meters, becoming the first Warren County athlete to win state titles in all three races in the same year since St. Aloysius’ DeMichael Harris in 2016.
At the Class 6A state meet, Palmer won the 100 meters in 10.73 seconds, the 400 in 49.12, and then the 200 in 21.84.
In 23 combined starts in the 100, 200 and 400 meters this season, Palmer won 19 times. He did not lose to a Class 6A runner in the 100 and 400, and not at all in the 200.
Congratulations to all on a great season!
