Michelle McKenzie is the owner of McKenzie’s Beauty Supply at 5 Pemberton Place and McKenzie’s Hair Store at 1514 Washington Street.

The family-owned business has been a staple of beauty supply needs in Vicksburg for decades.

“(My favorite part is) making people happy or making them feel better,” she said. “When we added this place, everyone was very thankful that we had another location on this side of town.”

The shop sells a large selection of beauty products, from makeup to wigs to clothing.

Originally born in Mosbach, Germany, McKenzie has lived in Vicksburg since she was two years old.

McKenzie’s mother, who immigrated from South Korea, opened the original location in Dixie Plaza in 1991. McKenzie took over operations when her mother retired.

McKenzie’s has changed locations over the years. The hair store has been in its current location since 2014. The Beauty Supply near Kroger opened about two years ago.

McKenzie also said she has been very happy with the support she has received from the community. Her repeat customers are a vital part of her business.

McKenzie’s Beauty Supply is open from Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. McKenzie’s Hair Store is open from Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5:30 p.m.
