Shirley Stone Skinner

Attended by her family, Shirley Stone Skinner died peacefully on the evening of Friday, May 30, 2025, at Heritage House Nursing Center. She was 87.
She was an upright and honest woman of quiet, kindly and thoughtful disposition. Mrs. Skinner was known to be a wise and humbly lady. She particularly enjoyed her family, friends, and the arts. She was a member of the Career Home Demonstration Club and enjoyed the interactions with the other members and various activities.
Mrs. Skinner was born in Mount Vernon, Arkansas in 1937, the oldest of four children of Lorene Walker Stone and Earnest Otto Stone. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Mrs. Skinner was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Herman Skinner; sister, Mary Ann Peoples of Walker, Louisiana; and brother, Jim Stone of Cleveland. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Skinner and Jane Skinner of Vicksburg and Mona Skinner Kossler (Ian) of Mohave, California; her brother, Ricky Stone (Sharon) of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Mary Nell Lofton of Cleveland; and nephews, Patricia Dunn of Hammond, Louisiana, Michael Peoples, Jennifer Jenkins of Cleveland, Alan Stone of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Anna Stone Williamson of Cleveland, Abby Stone Gordon of Cleveland, Troy Skinner of Utica, Bubba Skinner of Raymond, Debbie Duncan of Cleveland, Terry Lofton of Raymond, and Renford Hollis Skinner of Mira Loma, California.
Saturday, June 7, at 10 a.m., services will be performed by Pastor Bill Wright, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, 3365 Porter’s Chapel Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
Pallbearers will be Troy Skinner, Bubba Skinner, Dustin Skinner, David McNemar, William Cook, Cristian Gordon and Owen Williamson.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bob Hollowell.
The family of Mrs. Skinner wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Heritage House Nursing Center and members of Trinity Baptist Church for their care, kindness, and prayers. They have been a great comfort to the family.
