WinShape campers having summer fun at Crossway Church

About 200 local campers are enjoying their time at the WinShape day camp at Crossway Church this week.

Angela Marshall is head of the children’s ministry at the church and is acting as the camp’s host.

“The kids do a little bit of everything,” she said. “They sing, they dance, they have worship time, they play games. Every day they do two skills, and that can be anything from archery to football to wacky science to fast food; they do painting. I mean, literally anything the kids could want to do, we have skills and they get to practice those.”

The camp originally cost $250 per camper; however, Maynord Landscaping Inc. donated funds to reduce that cost to $125 per camper for the camp’s weeklong Vicksburg session.

The camp travels to different cities in the area every week. The camp counselors are comprised of about 25 college students.

While there are still slots available for campers to enroll, Marshall said most kids who participate come for the whole week.

“It’s a busy day. It’s a long day,” she said. “So they are worn out when they go home. But they have so much fun.”
