A Warren County man whose car was pinned under a fallen tree was killed Thursday morning after a motorist collided with the tree just minutes later.

Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey identified the deceased as Robert Sibley and pronounced him dead on the scene.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said that, at approximately 7:45 a.m., officer Jerry Davidson with the county road patrol, along with a county road maintenance worker, responded to the scene in the 4900 block of Oak Ridge Road, where Sibley’s 2000 Toyota Corolla was found under a fallen tree. Sibley appeared to be uninjured and reported that the tree had fallen onto his car.

Pace said Sibley and a second motorist who had stopped to assist were both struck by a third motorist who struck the downed tree while traveling southbound on Oak Ridge Road in a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. Pace said the assisting motorist was “thrown to the side” by the vehicle, which came to a rest on top of Sibley.

Huskey said Sibley was killed instantly.

Pace said Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on the scene approximately one minute after the fatal crash, which remains under investigation.
