Even the most conscientious of homeowners can inadvertently amass a collection of hazardous materials over time, which is why the Warren County Board of Supervisors is partnering with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality to hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day Saturday in Vicksburg.
Taking place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Sherman Avenue school parking lot located at 2145 Sherman Ave., hazardous items that will be collected free of charge include: batteries; used motor oil; antifreeze; insecticides; pesticides; aerosols; acids; flammable liquids; paint; computer equipment; I.P. cylinders; TVs; fluorescent light bulbs; and ammunition.
Non-hazardous materials that will be collected free of charges includes: metal (including appliances, brass, aluminum, copper, steel and bi-metal cans); tires; clothes; and furniture.
Document shredding will also be offered during Saturday’s event. Organizers ask that all staples, paperclips, binder clips and any other metal be removed before documents are dropped off.
For additional information about Saturday’s event, calls may be directed to the Warren County Board of Supervisors at 601-634-8073.
