- M.L. Worrell Jr. is home from A&M College.

- Leo Koestler and May Tiller are married.

- Lt. Albert E. Moses is awarded the Bronze Star for heroic achievement in Germany. • Henry F. McCormack is promoted to captain in the Vicksburg Police Department.
70 YEARS AGO: 1955
- W.A. Johnston, Vicksburg industry executive, is named chairman of the Mississippi Economic Council committee to review the organization’s labor/management relations policies.
60 YEARS AGO: 1965
- Mamie Thomas, the first woman rural mail carrier in the country, dies here. • Services are held for Ernest Bolls.
50 YEARS AGO: 1975
- Viola Sullivan receives a silver necklace upon completion of 20 years of service with Westinghouse. • Grover C. Myers dies after a short illness.
40 YEARS AGO: 1985
- Linda Jackson competes in the Miss Teen Pageant. • Candace Ann Tinsley celebrates her 3rd birthday. • Delvin Michael King is 2.
30 YEARS AGO: 1995
- Gautam Padey of Vicksburg graduates from the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science in Columbus.
20 YEARS AGO: 2005
- Maddie LaSalle, 5, walks Patty the dog at Vicksburg Convalescent Home during a dog show. • Seven people are arrested and charged with breaking into the home of a Vicksburg soldier serving in Iraq.
