Vicksburg’s Matthew Campbell, James Harper named Hinds IDEAList honorees

RAYMOND – Hinds Community College recently named the Spring 2025 honorees of the IDEAList employee recognition. These employees represent Hinds’ college values of Integrity, Diversity, Excellence, Accountability, Leadership and Stewardship.

Matthew Campbell of Vicksburg teaches Culinary Arts and History on the Vicksburg-Warren Campus. He’s been employed at Hinds for nine years.

James Harper of Vicksburg has been at Hinds for 19 years. He is the Director of Small Business Development on the Raymond Campus. He graduated from Warren Central High School, Hinds, Mississippi State University and Mississippi College.

Robyn Burchfield of Clinton is Director of Development and Scholarships in the Foundation office on the Raymond Campus. A seven-year Hinds employee, she works with donors to establish scholarships and with students to award Foundation scholarships. She also assists with fundraising efforts for the college. She graduated from McComb High School, Southwest Mississippi Community College and Mississippi College.

Omarr Conner of Ridgeland is the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for the football team. He graduated from Noxubee County High School and Mississippi State University. He previously worked at Yazoo County High School and Louisville High School.

Deshanna Dixon of Utica is the Student Services Coordinator on the Utica Campus. An employee for nearly four years, she graduated from Raymond High School, Hinds, Jackson State and Belhaven University. She was previously a teacher in Jackson Public Schools.

Talinceya Finley of Richland teaches Social Sciences on the Utica Campus. He graduated from Crystal Springs High School, attended both Hinds and Co-Lin. He has degrees from Jackson State University and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. He has worked at Hinds a little over two years.

Shirley Henderson of Clinton is Learning Lab Specialist on the Jackson Campus. A 10-year employee, she graduated from Rosa Fort High School in Tunica, Hinds and Jackson State University.

Kathy Jones of Raymond is procurement/ travel specialist on the Raymond Campus. She previously worked in the Hinds bookstore for 20 of the 24 years she has worked for the college. She graduated from Warren Central High School and Hinds.

Catherine Odom of Pearl has been a Practical Nursing Instructor at the Nursing Allied Health Center for three years. She graduated from Vicksburg High School, Hinds, Mississippi University for Women, Capella University and is presently in a program at Arkansas State University.

Elmira Ratliff of Canton is Academic Dean for the Utica and Vicksburg-Warren campuses. She has worked at Hinds nearly 10 years. She graduated from J.Z. George High School in Leflore County, Alcorn State University, Mississippi College and earned her doctorate at the University of Mississippi.
