The next phases of two ongoing road construction projects around Vicksburg could make travel tricky this summer.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation announced that Mississippi 27 will temporarily close in both directions from June 20-23 at the Hinds/Warren County line as crews remove and replace the bridge end.
The closure will be in effect from Friday, June 20 at 7 p.m. until Monday, June 23, at 6 a.m.
Meanwhile, Old Highway 80 between Mississippi 467 and Tiffintown Road, near Edwards in Hinds County, will remain closed to thru traffic until mid-December for bridge repair and inspection.
It is part of a larger project to repair and replace five bridges across the Big Black River along the Hinds/Warren County line. Drivers should expect delays and heavy traffic through the area between mile markers 11 and 19 on Interstate 20 while work proceeds.
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and check mdottraffic.com for updates on traffic conditions.
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this article stated the closure would run through 6 p.m. on Monday, June 23. We apologize for the error.
