The Vicksburg City Clerk’s Office is now officially reporting the results of the 2025 municipal election, confirming Willis Thompson as the next mayor of Vicksburg.

According to the final certified results, Thompson received 1,795 votes to Flaggs’ 1,719.

“I’m honored and humbled by the trust the people of Vicksburg have placed in me,” Mayor-elect Thompson said. “This campaign was about the future of our city. Now that the official results are in, I look forward to moving swiftly and decisively to deliver on my campaign promises to improve public safety, provide responsible and transparent spending, prioritize infrastructure investments, code enforcement, beautification, fostering a business-friendly environment, supporting youth, education, and families, and comprehensive planning for future development.”

Thompson expressed gratitude to his supporters, volunteers, and the voters who turned out and made their voices heard. He said he has already started preparing for the start of his administration with announcements planned in the near future.

“This victory belongs to all of us, and I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work,” he said. “When it comes to the future of our city, there isn’t any time to waste. More announcements coming soon!”
