Donald O. Murray

Donald O. Murray, 84, of Shreveport, passed away on June 9 at his home. He was born on Nov. 22, 1940, in Vicksburg Mississippi.

He is survived by his wife, Dottie, to whom he was a devoted husband for 64 years. He is also survived by his three children, Donna Murray (Dale Wildes), Chip Murray (Mitzi) and Dee Jordan (Rafe). “Pops” was a doting grandfather to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father John O. Murray, mother Louise Green, stepfather Trellis W. Green, brothers John Billy Murray and Trellis G. Green.

Don served in the Army National Guard from 1958 -1963, worked in the chemical industry in Vicksburg and eventually started his own business, M&M Goodyear, with his good friend Niven Morgan in Shreveport. Don and Dottie traveled the world together including China, Hong Kong, Honduras, Russia and many places across the U.S. They were active in both St. Joseph and St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic churches.

Don enjoyed working and never missed a day. He loved hunting and fishing with his father, son, brothers and cousins in Vicksburg and later with his son and grandsons at the camp in Minden. He also loved spending time with his kids and grandkids at his home. On occasion he enjoyed a day at the horse track and an evening at the casino.

Thank you Daddy, for your love, patience, and invaluable lessons. You will always be loved, missed and forever remembered.
