Warren Central goes 4-0 at Holmes soccer tournament

Warren Central’s quest for another deep run in the MHSAA boys soccer playoffs next winter started with an impressive showing in the heat of early summer.

The Vikings won all four of their games Wednesday to win the Holmes Community College tournament. They beat Heritage Academy 2-0, Cleveland Central 4-0, and Houston 9-1 in pool play, then topped Leake Central 6-2 in the championship game.

Jonah Artman led the Vikings with eight goals in the four games. Jacob Porter, the 2025 Vicksburg Post Player of the Year in Warren County, finished with four goals and four assists, while Charlie Esparza had four goals and one assist. Daniel Wescott scored three goals.

Goal keepers Anthony Streif and Chaz Jilbert combined on two shutouts. Streif made a total of 13 saves in the four games and Jilbert had four.

Warren Central has a 34-8-3 record over the past two seasons and reached the MHSAA Class 6A semifinals both times.
