Key City Brewery and Eatery is now serving brunch on Sundays.
Owner and head brewer Zack Erickson and Executive Chef Blake Parmegiani spoke to the Post about the restaurant’s new endeavor.
“You know, it was definitely something that we knew people would enjoy,” Parmegiani said. “And we figured we would be able to make something that is pretty different from what else you can get around town and, you know, that it was worth it for us to really kind of grind into it and get going on it.”
The menu offered during brunch is almost entirely different from the usual offerings at Key City.
“Outside of the pizzas, it’s a complete menu changeover,” Erickson said. “So we had to make sure that everyone knew the dishes, knew the plating, and that we could figure out the changeover from two different styles of service in the day.”
Your typical breakfast fare will be available, including items like pancakes, omelets, and bacon. Key City also roasts its own coffee in-house.
Erickson said he is excited about the opportunity to provide brunch at the restaurant.
“It’s kind of wild looking back at all of this and the fact that over the course of these seven years, we’ve never really stopped growing and evolving as a business and as a team, which has been really fun, very exhausting, (and) super exhilarating at times,” he said. “This is kind of like that final thing for us where we feel comfortable with kind of our growth and our evolution creatively as well as execution wise. Brunch is kind of that last big step.”
The restaurant actually started serving brunch several weeks ago as part of a soft opening. This past week, Erickson and Parmegiani were confident enough to officially announce the additional menu.
Brunch at Key City will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on almost every Sunday. Erickson said it will not be served the day after large events at the restaurant such as Oktoberfest.
