Col. Paul Thomas, former director of the Waterways Experiment Station, is promoted to brigadier general by President Truman.

Dr. and Mrs. Guy Jarratt and son move into their new home in Wildwood Subdivision. • Mrs. Ellen Reid dies.
60 YEARS AGO: 1965
Services are held for George Adams. • Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Huston announce the birth of a daughter, Susan.

Sheriff Paul Barrett announces his candidacy for re-election.• John Carson Sr. dies after a lengthy illness.

A group of residents kick off a fundraising campaign to restore and preserve Beulah Cemetery.
