Vicksburg, I am overjoyed by your vote of confidence, for this is a testament of perseverance, faith, and community spirit, to be elected as the new Alderwoman for Ward 2 in the City of Vicksburg. After seven determined attempts, this victory marks a new chapter for the city and stands as a powerful reminder that persistence and unity can bring about real change.
As a lifelong resident and public servant with over 25 years of experience working for the city, I ran as an Independent candidate. I’ve been a long dedicated team member, coach, and advocate for the people of Vicksburg, with a vision to transform the city into a vibrant, inclusive, and thriving community.
This has been a long time coming! I am so grateful to all of the people who helped, supported, and voted for me. Wednesday June 3, 2025 was a momentous day, and I am reminded of the scripture found in Habakkuk 2:3: “For the vision awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end, and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come, and will not delay.” This verse encourages patience and faith in God’s promises, even when fulfillment seems delayed.
My campaign focused on the themes of teamwork and unity, emphasizing that the challenges facing Vicksburg can only be overcome by working together. As a community, we’re all affected by the present conditions of Vicksburg. As I stated on June 3, 2025, “It’s time to roll up our sleeves and take care of business. We all see the problems — I’m here to lead us in taking action.”
My priorities as a member of “Team Vicksburg” representing Ward 2 and the city include:
- Cutting Waste, Investing in the Future: We have a major problem with wasteful spending. I will lead a transparent audit of city finances and ensure your tax dollars are spent wisely—on what matters most to you.
- Moving Beyond Talk to Action: Everyone talks about Vicksburg’s problems, but nothing gets done. I’m ready to take action, and produce, not just make promises.
- Prioritizing Health & Wellness: A healthy Vicksburg is a strong Vicksburg. I will champion initiatives that improve our city’s physical, mental, and environmental health.
- Faith in Vicksburg’s Potential:I believe in Vicksburg’s ability to become a model city. With faith in each other, we can achieve great things.
- Hope for a Brighter Tomorrow: Hope is more than a word—it’s the expectation that we can and will do better. Together, we can manifest the good that Vicksburg possesses.
- Love for this Community: Love is what unites us. Let’s come together, regardless of our differences and political affiliations to solve the challenges we all face.
- Honoring Vicksburg’s Legacy: Vicksburg was the key that ended the Civil War. Let’s honor that legacy by becoming a vibrant city — a shining example for Mississippi and beyond.
I will officially begin my term on July 1, 2025, and I’m calling on all residents to join me in restoring hope and building a city everyone can be proud to call home.
Vicksburg, get ready — we have work to do. I look forward to seeing and working with all individuals who want to help and assist us in this mission to restore and make Vicksburg a model city that we all can be proud to call home!
