Youngsters had the opportunity to make sun catchers at the Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library Friday.

Children’s Librarian Marie Cunningham said the event was a big success.

“I think it was wonderful,” she said. “The grown-ups enjoyed it as much as the children. Everybody likes to see the work of their hands.”

There were three different sun-catcher making classes held Friday. The first two had a total of around 30 participants, while the third’s total headcount wasn’t quite tallied as a press time.

Cunningham said the children were learning an important lesson: “That they can take a little bit of nothing and make something really special.”

The library has been putting on a wide range of activities this summer that are open to the public. Cunningham said that. so far, about 900 participants have joined in the fun over the past three weeks alone.

“(The library) is working very hard to provide for the community, and we are honored to be able to do that,” Cunningham said. “I just think it’s really special. And under our director, we are making great strides forward.”
