Funeral services for Larry Sharkey Reed are to be held on Saturday, June 21 in the chapel of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Johnny L. Williams officiating. Interment shall follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20 in the funeral home from 5 to 6p.m.

Larry Sharkey Reed, a Vicksburg resident, passed away on Sunday, June 15 in the Merit Health River Region Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 74. He was a retired cook for the U.S. Government MAT Sinking Unit.  He was a member of King David #2 M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Reed and Carrie Rogers; his brothers, John Reed and Jessie Reed; and his sisters, Emma Reed and Mary Reed.

He is survived by his brother, Harry Reed, Jr. of Raleigh, NC; and his sisters, Mildred McFelt of Vicksburg and Rosia Reed of San Francisco, Cali.; and a host of nieces, nephews’ cousins and others.
