Bobo Jones announced his candidacy for District 4 supervisor.

Services were held for veteran Vicksburg printer James C. Pannell.

Mrs. Charles Pierce Williams died.  • Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Shirley Jr. announced the birth of a son, Samuel III, on June 19.

Services were held for Mrs. Henry Kline.   

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Retired Lt. Col. Lawrence W. Norton II died of an apparent heart attack. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Mrs. Bertha Payne spoke during the Youth Day Program at Mount Heroden M.B. Church.

Lifelong Vicksburg resident Bobby Dill died. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Vicksburg was celebrating the 75th anniversary of the opening of the U.S. 80 bridge over the Mississippi River. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

The Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a 5% raise for members Mayor George Flaggs Jr., Alderman Michael Mayfield and Alderman Willis Thompson.
