Mary Helen Kemper and Dr. William Purks were married. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Chief Petty Officer Horace Boyd arrived home after 21 months in the South Pacific. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Mrs. George Nelson and children, of D.C., were in Warren County visiting the Harry Phelan home. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Mrs. W.O. Sylvester died.  • Sandra Dee starred in “Tammy and the Doctor” at the Vicksburg Drive-In Theater. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Albert Jonsond died after a lengthy illness.  • Mrs. Dolly Knight Graham died. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

A Clay Street parking ban divided businesses and police.  • Katherine L. Reed died.

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

It was announced that a portion of the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau staff would move to the Unifirst Savings and Loan building at the intersection of Clay and Washington streets.

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Longtime Warren County District 2 Supervisor Michael Mayfield resigned from office. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Ed Wong, longtime Key Club advisor and voice of Vicksburg High School football, stepped down from his position.
