‘Slow down’ Saturdays: Farmer’s Market thrives in summer months

Summer has arrived in earnest in Vicksburg, and with it has come this year’s Farmer’s Market, open each Saturday through Aug. 2 from 8 until 11 a.m. at the corner of Washington and Jackson streets.

In addition to offering fresh fruits and vegetables, along with other locally produced foods, themed-events and music, manager Rebecca Sigh said the market has also become a trusted staple of summer in the River City.

There’s nothing like the atmosphere at the Vicksburg Farmers’ Market during the summer,” Sigh said. “From the smell of fresh produce to the sound of live music and friendly conversations with local growers and makers, it’s more than a place to shop — it’s an experience. We also offer fun, hands-on activities for kids that help them learn about our vendors, where their food comes from, and the importance of agriculture. Every Saturday morning is a chance to slow down, support local, and enjoy the heart of our community.”
